Why Coastal Leadership Group?

This past summer I took an unplanned hiatus from a rewarding career.   This time away allowed me to reflect on the past 25 years:

o   Where did I find the most fulfillment?

o   Where did I enjoy spending my time?

o   What did I naturally gravitate to?

o   When did I think, “I can’t believe they pay me to do this job?”

My work with other leaders has always been the most fulfilling part of my job.   Since 2007, I’ve either led sales teams or organizations.   Working with team members on their opportunities and challenges, watching them grow professionally, seeing the success that comes from doing hard and challenging work has always been a thrill for me.

From 2007 to 2023 I was part of Vistage, a CEO-peer group.  Our small group would meet monthly to hear from interesting and timely speakers and then we would typically spend the afternoon helping each other solve significant personal and business issues.   The time spent working those issues was fascinating to me and I always learned something – a new way to handle an issue, a blind spot I didn’t see, or an opportunity I had not thought of.

In addition to my former bosses, Board Chairs, and the multiple mentors I’ve been privileged to know, I’ve also worked with an Executive Coach for over 18 years.  He has helped me become a stronger leader, a more well-rounded executive, and a more thoughtful human being.

With those experiences in mind, I’ve decided to start Coastal Leadership Group, a consulting practice with a focus on Executive Coaching and Business Consulting.    I want to work with leaders of organizations on transformative growth by focusing on culture, strategy, communications and organizational design.

I want to spend the next chapter of my career saying, “I can’t believe they pay me to do this job!”
